Is my child ready for nursery school?
Your child is ready for nursery school if they can participate without a parent, interact well with others, follow instructions, demonstrate self-control, adjust to routine changes, solve some problems independently, and communicate their needs clearly. While most children adapt well, a two-week probationary period will be in place (at the teachers’ discretion). If your child cannot adjust after this time, alternate arrangements may be requested. In such cases, one month’s notice for withdrawal will be waived, but the current month’s tuition will be non-refundable.
What is kindergarten readiness?
Kindergarten readiness refers to the skills and knowledge a child should have before starting kindergarten. At McLeod Nursery School, our curriculum focuses on the overall development of each child, including social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. Through learning centres and themed activities, children have opportunities for active exploration and engagement.
How do I register my child for school?

Why are parents required to volunteer on a committee?
McLeod Nursery School operates as a co-op, meaning all families are asked to volunteer on a committee. At the September parent meeting, you’ll have the chance to sign up for the committee of your choice. We understand that schedules can be difficult, so if you’re unable to volunteer, you may pay an opt-out fee of $125 at registration. Additionally, a $125 volunteer bond is required at registration, which will be refunded once your volunteer commitment is fulfilled.
Can I volunteer in my child’s class?
Each child will have the opportunity to be the “Star of the Day.” You will be informed in advance of your child’s special day, and you can choose to volunteer on that day. We’ll provide you with an “All About Me” booklet to work on with your child. They will also have the chance to sit next to the teacher and share their favorite toy, pictures, and more with the class.
Does McLeod Nursery School go on field trips?

Do children bring their own snack?
Yes, children are required to bring their own snack and a labeled water bottle to school. To ensure the safety of all students, only fruits and vegetables are allowed in the classroom for snacks due to allergy concerns.
Can I bring special snacks for my child’s birthday?
Due to allergy concerns, we do not allow special snacks to be eaten during class time. However, you are welcome to provide nut-free goodie bags for the children to take home.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
